Pioneers in Sustainable Innovation and Circular Economy

Dijkstra Plastics, a family-owned company with a long history of innovation and environmental awareness, is a key player in sustainable packaging solutions. Together with their startup FIRE-OFF, they are setting new standards for circular business practices and material reuse in both the food and non-food industries.

For them, sustainability goes beyond producing 100% recyclable buckets; they offer a complete solution where used packaging buckets are fully repurposed. This makes Dijkstra Plastics and FIRE-OFF an indispensable link in the transition to a circular economy.

An important aspect of their sustainable approach is their collaboration with partners within the Circular Plastics Alliance. In this partnership, they work closely with companies like Kras Recycling to effectively and responsibly repurpose plastic streams within the alliance. The goal is simple: to make every type of plastic suitable for high-quality recycling, circular, and reintegrated into the production chain. By following this vision, Dijkstra Plastics / FIRE-OFF views plastic not as waste, but as a valuable resource that can be reused again and again.

Additionally, Dijkstra Plastics / FIRE-OFF invests annually in making their entire production chain more sustainable. They optimize and renew their machinery, make conscious purchasing choices, drive process efficiency, conduct innovation-driven research, and use green energy. All of this is part of their commitment to releasing their first CSRD report in 2025, where they will transparently report on their progress and results in the field of sustainability.

When it comes to reducing their carbon footprint, Dijkstra Plastics / FIRE-OFF is also making significant strides. By recycling used buckets and utilizing the granulate for new rPP buckets, they achieve substantial savings. For every kilogram of recycled polypropylene (PP), at least 50% CO2 emissions are reduced. The more buckets that are made circular, the greater the impact on their CO2 reduction and thus on the environment.

Dijkstra Plastics / FIRE-OFF emphasizes that this sustainability process is not only important for the company itself but for the entire supply chain. From their own staff and suppliers to customers and consumers, everyone within their sphere of influence plays a role in responsibly managing resources and promoting circular solutions.

Within the Circular Alliance, Dijkstra Plastics, together with FIRE-OFF, ensures the complete cycle of plastic bucket reuse. Their added value within the alliance lies in enabling high-quality recycling and delivering new 100% rPP buckets, which are derived from collected and recycled buckets. This makes them a crucial link in the circular economy.

Through their continuous focus on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration within the supply chain, Dijkstra Plastics / FIRE-OFF remains at the forefront of the transition to a more sustainable business model. Together with the partners of the Circular Plastics Alliance, they are working towards a future where plastic is no longer seen as waste but as a renewable resource that continues to circulate within the production chain.
