The construction sector plays a crucial role in the transition to a circular economy. In collaboration with various partners within the Circular Plastics Alliance, a promising pilot project has recently been launched at the Van Wijnen construction site in Dordrecht. This project specifically focuses on implementing a new system using containers for the collection and processing of plastic construction waste, such as films and straps.
At the construction project in Dordrecht, Knapzak Benelux BV has placed orange 240-liter containers, specifically designed for collecting plastic films and straps. Using user-friendly CircularBags, these materials can be easily separated and gathered. Once the CircularBags are full, they are placed back into the orange containers. BMN, a key partner in the project, then collects the CircularBags for further processing and recycling.
With the VANG – Van Afval Naar Grondstof initiative, BMN is working towards making construction sites more sustainable. By carefully separating and recycling waste streams, waste is transformed into valuable raw materials that gain a new life. This collaboration is an important step toward a circular construction sector, where reuse and sustainability take center stage.
The first containers and CircularBags were delivered before Christmas. Recently, corresponding stickers have been added, clearly indicating which materials belong in each container. These clear instructions help construction professionals on-site contribute easily to circular waste management.
The collaboration between various partners within the Circular Plastics Alliance demonstrates how innovation and teamwork go hand in hand in the transition to a circular construction sector. Want to learn more? Contact Circular Plastics Alliance.
