Flawless, efficient, personal, committed and sustainable. That’s Lame. What once started as a simple hand laundry in Loosdrecht grew – in six generations – into a professional international laundry for cleaning, managing, developing, renting and selling textiles, with a particular focus on aviation and hospitality.
Sustainability is important to Lamme and this is reflected in daily practice. For example, the laundry at Schiphol Airport is steamless, they use green electricity at all locations where possible, they reuse the wastewater, they developed blankets from recycled plastic bottles together with Repreve, the rejected hotel and catering textiles are recycled into cellulose, of which viscose is made, they continuously invest in more energy-efficient washing techniques and offer work to people with a distance to the labor market.

A team has been set up within the company to accelerate the sustainable objectives. Good results have already been achieved. For example, about 10 tons of textiles have already been recycled and all residual film is collected and recycled at the location in Germany. Together with Circular Plastics and Alliance participant Kivo, a pilot has been set up with recycled foil and research is being conducted into products that could be made from the ‘non-woven’ waste materials. Participation in the Circular Plastic Alliance is expected to improve the footprint by at least 25%.
By adding Lamme Textile Management to the Circular Plastics Alliance, we can share knowledge and use our joint expertise to e.g. to investigate the recycling options for plastic used in aviation and we have a partner in textile recycling. This makes Lamme Textile Management a unique and valuable addition to our Alliance.
