Fresco Flowers

Fresco Flowers was founded in 2005 and is a flower processing company located at the world’s most famous and largest flower auction: Royal FloraHolland Aalsmeer. We check, package and deliver roses from 10 growers in Kenya (with a total surface area of approximately 270 hectares). The nursery gardens in Kenya from which we buy are Timaflor, Altima, Lolomarik, Ol-Njorowa, Mt. Kenya flowers, Rift Valley Roses, Alani, Nirp, Kisima and Lobelia. Our product range consists of top quality roses available in all colors.

Our mission is to provide as many customers as possible with fresh and top quality roses in the right packaging, and to do so in a regular and reliable manner.

Fresco Flowers’ CSR vision is to be a future-proof unpacking company in which roses are grown and traded with respect for people and for the environment. As a company, Fresco Flowers takes responsibility for making its own operations and processes more sustainable. We have a facilitating role in the floriculture chain, in which the focus is on the the processing of roses, as well as on growers, the auction and the buyers. Together with the growers, customers and chain partners, Fresco Flowers realizes a sustainable and regular supply tailored to the market’s demands.

The growers that Fresco Flowers works with support various international initiatives for sustainably grown roses. The best known initiatives are KFC (Kenya Flower Council), MPS A (Milieu Programma Sierteelt), MPS SQ and MPS GAP. Fresco meets the FSI (Floriculture Sustainability Initiative) ambition. This is an initiative for sustainability in the international floriculture chain. In addition, Fresco Flowers pursues a sustainability policy to keep the environmental impact of its activities as little as possible. For instance, we aim to either reduce the use of packaging materials or to develop circular solutions in our agreements with growers.

Four examples of Fresco Flowers’ circular solutions are:

  1. Cardboard collar banned
  2. 100% recycled flower foil
  3. Circular Bag
  4. Multi-use flower box

As a member of the Circular Plastics Alliance, Fresco Flowers aims to achieve the common goals regarding recycling and plastic savings together with the other Alliance members. We hope that multiple parties will join to jointly develop efficient and sustainable packaging and transport solutions. In this way we can together set an innovative standard in the integral logistics chain of the international flower sector.

Fresco Flowers has extensive market knowledge of the rose import from Kenya. With its market share of approximately 10% of the Kenyan rose market, Fresco Flowers is a major player that is of added value for the other members of the Alliance.
